Piping Designer

Description:Our Hillsboro, OR location is currently accepting resumes for a full time Piping Designer who will interface directly with our Process Engineers and Project Managers and provide design services for our rapidly growing list of clients. The successful candidate will be highly organized, confident, able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, an effective team player and will have a strong interest and experience in Engineering.
Duties:• Review design package with our own as well as client engineering staff
• Coordinate in-house project schedules, and project engineering/design schedules
• Coordinate project design with outside consultants and vendors
• Prepare project engineering and construction scope of work documents and assist with project engineering and construction cost estimates
• Prepare design documents for drafting and develop complex performance and equipment specifications in conjunction with senior designer or engineer
• Review work product of other designers and drafters
• Conduct field verifications/observations
• Create P&ID’s from PFDs and basis of design information
• Attend project client meetings
• Provide technical supervision and direction of junior members of a project team
• Perform initial QA on own design work
• Perform QA/QC on other designers work
• Guide and mentor junior designers in performing QA/QC on their design works.
• Use of word processing, spreadsheet and engineering software
• Be a role model for junior members of staff
Qualifications:• At least 5-7 years of related experience
• Previous A&E firm experience with emphasis on new and/or existing industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities is strongly preferred
• Intermediate to advanced AutoCAD 2D & 3D skills (preferred Autodesk Plant 3D, and we will be reviewing other platforms as well)
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel
• Demonstrated proficiency for drafting design documents
• Ability to work in a cost effective, customer focused, team based environment
• Understanding and skill in assessing a client’s requirements/needs in the field
• Professional conduct and high respect for confidentiality

Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory
